95X Corporation ("95X"), has become aware of another nation within the Atlantian Oceania Region which has chosen to aggressively ignore the current and/or proposed military actions of any other nation in the region, including - but not limited to - 95X Corporation's subsidiary, The Provincial Dictatorship of Scottfire ("Scottfire"). This nation, The Incorporated States of Sarzonia ("Sarzonia"), which was engaged in conflict with The Free Kingdom of Falcania over a proposed territorial claim, ceased to exist for quite some time, and is now making the above-mentioned claim. Anywhere in this document, if 95X appears alone for sentence clarity, it applies to both 95X and Scottfire. Therefore, 95X reluctantly accepts Sarzonia's requests, and immediately ceases to recognize Sarzonia as a nation. As such, it is ordered: All travelers in 95X from Sarzonia are hereby required to leave the country immediately. Any 95X citizens in Sarzonia are to return to 95X immediately. Permission to enter 95X by any Sarzonian citizen or national for any purpose is hereby denied. Any Sarzonian identification, including but not limited to passports, drivers' licenses, and visas, are considered null and void in 95X, as Sarzonia is no longer considered a valid issuing authority. All commercial or private transportation services, whether goods or passenger, by air, by land, or by sea, between 95X and Sarzonia, or vice-versa, must cease immediately. Any such vehicles currently in transit between the countries listed must turn back immediately. If refueling of a vehicle registered to 95X or Scottfire is necessary, it must be accomplished in a country recognized by 95X. All international events, including but not limited to sporting, commercial or governmental, are subject to restriction. 95X will not recognize "one on one" events between itself and Sarzonia, even if part of a larger event. If an event occurs within Sarzonia, it will be treated as if that event never existed. Likewise, Sarzonia is prohibited from attending or participating in any event occurring in 95X or Scottfire. Any and all communication services between the countries is also to cease and must no longer be possible, as we no longer recognize that the country, its government, its businesses, or its people, exist. The only communication which 95X or Scottfire will accept from Sarzonia is an official communication stating that it will, permanently, from that point forward, accept any and all actions by any and all other nations, positive or negative (the only exception will be the obvious, warranted, occasional ignorance of bona fide n00bs). Only at the time that Sarzonia sincerely makes such a request, this order will be repealed. Anything not covered by the letter of this order is covered by the spirit of the order. As this is an international order, any other nation which chooses to recognize it in full may do so under the legally perfected method of their nation, and contact 95X to let us know. (OOC: Simply post a reply that your nation accepts, signed by the leader of your nation; if applicable, include any parliament/senate/cabinet/popular/etc. vote necessary under your nations' laws.) As passed unanimously by the 95X Board of Directors: (signed) Jason Barbur, President, Board Chairman (signed) Walter Richerson, Board Vice-Chairman |

Although not entirely selfless, the support of the 95X Corporation has nevertheless received great praise from the King, government and people of the Free Kingdom. |

The Free Republic deplores the move made by 95X to further deepen the existing conflict between Sarzonia and Falcania. In a time where the region is split into three military conflicts, now is not the time to spread further distrust between AO nations. This action further decreases the chances of a peaceful and equitable settlement on the issue by the two parties involved. It was with the regional situation in mind that the Free Republic made the (still standing) offer to diplomatically mediate the dispute over Diamindokere. The island was so beautiful, surrounded on both sides by pristine waters, its beaches pure and untainted. That was the official view of the island that was formerly the home of a naiton known as Diamindokere. Though that nation had dissappeared, interest in the island had not. Not by a long shot. Arguments had erupted of late between Falcania and Sarzonia over the island, and conflict seemed possible. Even with many nations informing Falcania that they would not stand for its illegitimate claim to the island, that land's King insisted on claiming it. Despite some of the more powerful nations in Atlantian Oceania disputing the claim, King Falcon had displayed a pig-headed unwillingness to listen to reason. And in a way, Spartuns could respect standing by one's claims in the face of overwhelming odds. If reason was on your side. Yet the young King of Spartuh, believed there was no reason behind it; not after the events that had transpired immediately following the Kingdom's arrival in AO. Spartuh had moved to AO based on the notions that it was a smaller region compared to its first, and had reportedly an active international community. Also, there was rumored to be a war there, and what were Spartuns but warriors? The Oracle had confirmed the decision to move, and so it had been done. Yet after such a momentous move, another visit to Olympus, and the Oracle, had been in order. The older woman had known Leonidas was coming, and had been prepared to answer the question of where Spartuh should settle. Her answer had been clear and concise. Even now, the Oracle's words resounded with the female King (an official government title for the royal head of state - the Queen was supposed to mind the house and bear children only). "Spartuh must find a home where it can easily defend its people. It must also be in such a place where it is not isolated from the rest of the region.. it must be near enough to other nations so trade might flow between our nations. Such a land exists, by the will of the Gods, in an island of the Diamonds... go there, and trust in the Gods." And so, the Spartun Kingdom began to take hold without official notice of foreign lands. Yet it could not continue to go unnoticed with an aggressor nation potentially prepared to claim the land themselves. So, an official ceremony was held at the island's highest point to officially proclaim a Spartun presence there. Simultaneously with the raising of the Lambda there, a message was sent out to embassies across the region, proclaiming Spartuh's rightful claim to the island. Included in it was aggressive language that asserted the religious reasons for claiming the island. The Gods themselves had guided Spartuh to the island, and by that right it should be Spartun. It would also, they claimed, end the Falcanian-Sarzonian dispute by placing a neutral land there. Nations were invited to visit the capital of Sparta, to discuss the situation with King Leonidas in person. A simpler message, broadcast across the region over radio contained only three words.... "THIS.... IS.... SPARTUH!!!" (More to follow) |

Highlights From A Message to the Region of Atlantian Oceania To all nations of Atlantian Oceania, and all their peoples: greetings and salutations to all from the sovereign Kingdom of Spartuh. It is with great honor that we settle in your region, one with much history and activity itself. As a nation with much history and culture as our own can respect and wishes to be part of such a region. We have been guided here not only by this rich culture and history, but also by the will of the Gods who have guided us for centuries. They have led us to great triumphs over all previous foes, and we trust in their will. Our faith is unwavering, and the will of Zeus cannot be deterred by the works of men alone. Our religious leader, the Oracle of Olympus, has proclaimed that the Gods will us to move to the former island of Diamindokere. By their will, will have begun our efforts to relocate Spartuh to this island which we feel is ours now. We have been guided to head to a land that is easily defendable, yet close to other nations so that we are no longer politically isolated in the region. An island of the diamonds, the Gods told us - Diamindokere. The Greek people have always been a seafaring people, and this island would allow us easy access to continue that tradition. We also offer a solution to the ensuing disputes of nations over the island formerly known as Diamindokere. Falcania, having been informed by both Lamoni and Starblaydia that they have no legitimate claim to the island, are not considered by Spartuh to be the true owners of the island. With that kingdom and Sarzonia arguing over the island and rightful claims, the Strategic Defense League is threatening to fight itself. The war in the region is already killing enough peoples without another violent conflict erupting. And the Kingdom of Spartuh, thereby, offers an option to prevent either nation from taking the island as part of an Empire. We offer a neutral, sovereign and free nation rather than the expansionist tendencies of certain Kingdoms which will remain unnamed. A simple solution to the argument - let Spartuh claim the land, and thus end the foreign claims. We ask all nations who savor freedom, sovereignty, and the divine right of a people and their King to choose their destiny to support the Spartun claim. And, thereby, join us in rejecting the illegitimate claims of agressive foreign rulers whom seek to defy the will of the international community. Signed, Leonidas, King of Spartuh, and Protector of the Greek People |

To: Leonidas, King of the Sovereign Kingdom of Spartuh Falcon II, King of the Free Kingdom of Falcania From: General Alejandro Ajamdáneqo, Commander-in-Chief of the http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/Capitalizt_Defense_Alliance We reject Spartuh’s assertion that the status of the former Diamindokere was in dispute prior to their arrival in Atlantian Oceania—at that time, Falcanian settlers had already landed on the island, and Sarzonia was too busy attempting to deal with a rebellion to interfere. Therefore, it is our position that the island belongs to Falcania. However, in the interest of finding a peaceful resolution to this dispute, we invite Spartuh and Falcania to send a delegation to meet in our headquarters in Aeropag, Unified Capitalizt States, where we will try to help in finding a mutually-acceptable solution. |

To: Leonidas, King of the Sovereign Kingdom of Spartuh From: General Alejandro Ajamdáneqo, Commander-in-Chief of the Capitalizt Defense Alliance It is our understanding that the island was uninhabited prior to Falcania’s arrival there. However, since that information was provided by Falcania, it is possible that we have been misinformed. If a CDA facility is not suitable for negotiaions, would you consider a base of the Capitalizt Coalition for Coöperation in Protection, a military organization with a strict policy of non-interference in affairs outside of the Unified Capitalizt States, to be sufficiently neutral? Alternatively, is there somewhere on the island itself that we could meet? |

Foreign Minister Ley had arrived in Spartuh after the long flight. While diplomats were supposed to be used to long flights, that didn't make them any more enjoyable. While her plane was taxiing to the designated spot, she looked out the window, seeing the Spartan flag (she didn't know what it was yet) on a mountain. When the normal "airstairs" had been wheeled up to the plane, the Foreign Minister left the plane after the security people had done their job, making sure that no one was attempting an assasinaiton. Tanya was ready to meet the people of Spartuh. |

The Falcon's Foreign Office rejects the claims made by the dubious nation of Spartuh, and would like to highlight that in the months since first landfall, some two billion settlers have by now happily restarted lives on the new territories. They point out that the land is now Falcanian soil and wish that everybody would shut up about it now. |

The Kingdom of Spartuh officially rejects the Falcanian claim of 2 billion settlers upon the island it was guided to by the Gods themselves. Our best experts on the subject have conlcuded that, based on all available evidence, there are not two billion Falcanians on this island. We also object to Falcania's aggressive, sophomoric name-calling, in referring to our sovereign, independent state, as 'dubious'. And the claim of the Falcanian nation needing to expand due to population is, by all accounts ridiculous. As has been stated clearly several times, there is NO SCALE to the AO map, therefore, Falcania may very well be much larger than is displayed on the map. Therefore, there is no need for this expansion, and violation of the national sovereignty of Spartuh, as well as the invasion of the island's native population, left over from Dimindokere by Falcanian 'settlers'. Falcania may have claimed that the island was uninhabited, but this too is ridiculous to claim. When a nation the size of Dimindokere ceases to exist formally, its population does not simply vanish into thin air. It is also foolish to believe that they simply went to other countries. Saprtuh made contact with those remaining, who expressed a stong disliking for the Falcanian settlers. Also standing to this day is the fact that the Falcanian claim to the island has been almost universally unrecognized, and more recently almost universally oppposed. The reality is that over 80 million Spartuns and free Greeks have arrived on the island. And they will not abandon the home that Zeus himself guided them to.

There was probably a good reason why "Spartan hospitality" was generally considered an oxymoron. A people who'd based their entire culture around fighting for centuries, they'd had to rely on the other Greek cities to assist with less than combative things upon the Unification. Today, the Spartuns had learned some manners that one would think they'd have learned years before. Of course, there was always an advisor in the post of Undersecretary of State, just in case a lapse in judgement happened. Just hours after the proclamation of the Kingdom's move to Atlantian Oceania, the first foreign delegate to visit had arrived at an airport just outside the city of Sparta. Arrangements to welcome the Lamonian had been made in order to show that Spartuh wasn't just about bloodshed, fighting, and glory in battle. Even if they'd been made hastilly. King Leonidas had made it clear that she wasn't going to tolerate a sub-par reception for the Foreign Minister. Even so, the welcoming commitee consisted of an honor guard of a Royal Army squad, wearing their battle dress uniforms and helmets. There was much tenseness in the atmosphere, as if they expected at any moment to see violence break out. And by their body language, the Spartun regulars would've welcomed it, too. Nothing did occur, though, and the Lamonian foreign minister was escorted to a waiting military all terrain vehicle, where more soldiers waited. It was a good twenty minute drive into the city's heart to the Royal Palace, where the King herself waited. Everywhere about the city, the crimson banner with gold lambda either hung or flew proudly, making it clear to any outsider that this was the national symbol. The palace itself wasn't large, but boasted columns and steps in the classical Greek tradition. Yet it was a newer structure, just built in the old style that was prevalent in all government buildings in Sparta. The palace itself was a stark white, in contrast to the crimson cloaks worn by the soldiers lining the steps. While equipped with automatic weapons, they were dressed in traditional Spartan armor, complete with cloaks and helms, and held spear and shield as if they'd stepped out of the past. These men were the Royal Bodyguard, part of three hundred of the Kingdom's best warriors who'd been selected to protect the King. The more mundanely dressed soldiers escorting the Lamonian foreign minister got down and opened the side door for her to exit the vehicle. Once she dared to venture up to the top step, she'd be able to see the grand double-doors that led to the palace interior. And out of those doors would come more traditionally dressed Spartuns, three on either side, flanking their King. Their King, about a good foot and a half shorter than the tallest bodyguard, was also in the traditional armor, but was noticeably.. female. She looked to be 13 or 14, and had her reddish-brown hair pulled back into pigtails, yet another thing that seemed out of place about her. Yet the posture she showed couldn't be mistaken for anything other than a warrior's, and her chestnut colored eyes were deep and intelligent. Upon seeing the foreign minsiter, she stepped forward more and awaited a greeting. |

The Falcon's Foreign Office sends a copy of last week's census, with individual and personal details censored for privacy, which tallies the island's population as currently 2.16 billion people. It would also like to point out that the territories were uninhabited for many years prior to settlement, and no nation held a valid reason for opposition. The Spartuhn claim that former Diamindokerian nationals were found and interviewed is, quite frankly, false. Falcania's valid claim to unoccupied territories has been officially recognised by a number of nations, including the Capitalizt Defence Alliance, a proud and upstanding nation who the Foreign Office point out hold a regional responsibility and authority over the cartographical administration of the region - that is to say, they draw the maps. They would also like to point out that we inhabited the territories many months before you laid a claim to them, and indeed the CDA acknowledged this expansion. If it is merely territory you desire, then feel free to inhabit anywhere else in the region. I can recommend Territory Area 6. |

The Free Republic would like to point out that a nation's population does not automatically vanish when a nation "officially" dies. Otherwise, a nation can't be taken to the region of Lazarus and reborn. Also, your claim to Diamindokere has been rejected by most nations in the region; including Starblaydia, Sarzonia, and Lamoni. Your "settlers" have been offered temporary visas in order to facilitate their removal from Spartuh's island of Diamindokere, Falcon. Nothing more. Finally, we feel that King Falcon is denying reality. |

OOC: Now YOU'RE resorting to name-calling. Don't. If you want them to stop, you should refrain from doing the same. (In 95X, the other bus riders would push you off at the next stop.) IC: 95X, who indirectly supports Falcania's claim to the island, notes that Falcania appears to have fulfilled all steps necessary in the 'Regional Map' thread to request expansion. 95X's motive for supporting Falcania's claim is due to the fact 95X does not currently have a spot on the regional map, and is concerned that special interests in the region are preventing nations from expanding or being placed on the map, which may block a future attempt being planned by 95X to request a spot on said regional map. Additionally, according to today's UN rankings, Falcania is the 15th largest nation in Atlantian Oceania, with a population of 6.19 billion. Sptartuh is 63rd, with a population of 88 million. Finally, 95X feels the regional map should've been updated immediately upon Sarzonia's cessation several months ago (OOC: That's the amount of time I've considered for the RL 5 days, give or take a day or two), as it was the only original opposition. The timely updating of the regional map (or a post indicating the claim was accepted and would be included on the next update) would've prevented the second claim from being made. If this can't be agreed to, 95X, as a nation that does not stand to directly gain or lose from this dispute; feels that in accordance to the rules in the 'Regional Map' thread, that the case should be taken to a council who will make a final, binding decision. If not, then we propose that a 'double-majority' regional vote should be taken by all non-puppet nations that are members of the Atlantian Oceania Region on the RL date 9-6-07; with the options: "accept Sarzonia's claim" (nation cannot claimed by Falcania but can be claimed by someone else), "accept Falcania's claim," or "accept Spartuh's claim." As Atlantian Oceania currently has 64 nations (including puppets, which would not be allowed a vote), 32 would need to be eligible to vote one way or another, and of that minimum of 32, at least 50% would need to vote for someone's claim, or it should be proposed that Dimindokere should be claimed by the region as a whole (such as Eystrck, Tachbe, and Wapahkoneta), and unavailable to any single nation. A nation that doesn't vote within the alloted time (thinking RL dates 9-7-07 to 9-14-07) will be considered to have abstained and count against the 50% turnout majority. |
Posted by: 95X-Scottfire Sep 6 2007, 02:55 AM | ||
3 out of 64 is not a majority - in fact, it's less than 5%. That's why I think there should be a binding council decision, or a double-majority vote of all nations in the region. |

OOC: There are fifty-one players in AO:
From this list, it doesn’t look as if getting twenty-six people to vote is realistic. IC: Should any regional vote be held on the Diamindokere issue, the Capitalizt Defense Alliance requests that, as one of the primary military powers in the region, it be permitted to vote in place of its home nation, the Unified Capitalizt States. |

It seemed as though the Foreign Minister had taken a step back in time to Ancient Greece. She'd known who the Spartans were, but the classical architecture was still as grand today as it was in the past. Taking a cue from that, she ascended the steps and came to the double doors. The Foreign Minister was attractive, and knew that she was getting some well hidden stares from the guards. This put a smile on her face, lighting it up. Once she got past the large double doors, she walked past the Spartan honor guard, to where the... she did a slight double take. Given the deference that the soldiers were giving the female teenager in front of her, it was clear that she was royal. Fortunately, she'd seen a poster during the ride from the airport with this image on it, but she thought that the poster had been joking when it said that this girl was the king. Apparently not. "King Leonidas, the Free Republic extends it's greetings, and thanks you for the hospitality of your hall." She waited for a response. |

The Kingdom of Spartuh will have it known that we still soundly reject the Falcanian claim to this island. We feel that, in the face of the opposition to the Falcanian claim by several prominent nations of the region, our claim is rightful. Zeus, the all-father of our Gods, guided us here. King Falcon is denying reality by claiming that an island that was once a nation of millions could suddenly become uninhabited at the snap of one's fingers. Spartuh's claim to this island is supported by Lamoni, Delesa, Starblaydia, and Vilita, amongst others. We have been willing to discuss the matter with King Falcon in diplomatic talks. He has ignored and spurned these peaceful efforts. This is taken as an insult to the Spartun nation and people. However, we Spartuns and our fellow Greeks like to place pride on our reason. Therefore, in the interest of reason, we call for a regional vote to solve the dispute once and for all. With the general apathy towards posting in regional dicsussion, we propose a simple majority vote, rather than a double-majority vote as proposed by another nation. If this proposal is accepted, we will abide by the region's decision. We firmly believe that the region will side with our rightful, divine claim to this island, and resepect us as a new nation in the region. Older nations, we believe, may expand elsewhere, as suggested by our Starblaydi friends. If, however, the vote proves otherwise, we will consult the Gods and make our decision on where to move. ***** The young King looked up at the foreign minister of Lamoni and stared harshly for a few moments. So this was the woman sent to represent the distant Free Republic? From her appearance, she almost seemed unlikely to be a power broker - but how she carried herself said otherwise. As always, the Gods worked in mysterious ways. Finally, the King nodded and answered, "You are most welcome, Foreign Minister, and I personally extend Spartuh's thanks for your nation's greetings and thanks. We are grateful for your support in these.. trying times." "Shall we step inside for further discussions?" she suggested, gesturing to the long hall behind the door - which too was lined with more of the Royal Bodyguard. Leonidas moved inside without waiting for a response, and added, "Have you been told of our ancient tradition, the Agogi?" Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Spartuh was busy sending a message to the very nation their current guest's nation was the arch rival of. Starblaydia had voiced support for Spartuh, and therefore must be part of these discussions. The small matter of a war could be ignored by the Spartuns. They'd not joined one side or the other.. yet. This might be an excellent opportunity to feel out both major alliances as well.

Following along in the King's wake, Tanya responded "Yes, the word literally means 'raising,' and it refers to the methods used to raise Spartan male children to be soldiers. It involved separation from the family, cultivation of loyalty to one's group, loving mentorship, military training, hunting, education, dance and social preparation. Girls also had a form of state education involving dance, gymnastics and other sport, together with other subjects. The aim here was similar to that of the agoge in that it aimed to make Spartan women the most physically attractive in the whole of Greece, and to enable them to bear healthy and vigorous children. Traits such as grace and culture were frowned upon, in favor of physical tempering and moral rectitude. Like the boys, a girl's education has been conjectured to include a sexual relationship with an older woman. Spartan women wore the old-fashioned Peplos, open at the side, leading to banter at their expense among the other Greeks, who dubbed them phainomerides, 'thigh-showers.' At religious ceremonies, on holidays and during physical exercise girls and women were nude, even with the boys and men." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agoge ) By the time that she had finished with this long winded explanation, they had already ended up where the King had intended them to go. |

King Falcon today sent a televised broadcast to the whole region, addressing King Leonidas of the nation of Spartuh. The simple, black-dressed man stood at the podium, his beak surveying the press conference. He cleared his throat and the hubbub subsided. He took a quick drink of something green, and then began to speak. "I, King Falcon II, note with great approval the courage of the small nation of Spartuh, facing up to a much larger and more powerful kingdom. Currently, military action against Spartuh would be unfavourable for the warriors of Falcania, besides which it would be a shame to better such brave fighters as those of the honorouable nation of Spartuh. Instead of threats, Falcania instead offers tribute to a fellow warrior nation. I personally offer the honourable warrior, King Leonidas, a gift of our military might, a donation of twenty-five flight-ready squadrons of the F-5 Bird of Prey, one of the most advanced multirole jet fighters in production today, to the Spartuhn air force. In return, I ask for Leonidas to be noble, and to please desist in laying claim to Falcanian territories." |

King Leonidas continued walking up towards the intended destination while the Lamonian foreign minister spoke. True, education was an important part of the Agoge - a true Spartun was expected to bear a strong mind as well as a strong body. Yet even with that, the long-winded explanation of the warrior training process was a little tiring for the young King. After all, she already knew what it was, having gone through it herself... twice. At least the Lamonian had done her homework. An igonrant foreigner would have been much more difficult to deal with. Still, Leonidas was frank as usual in her response, "It is good to hear you know so much about our culture, but.. to be honest, you sound like an Athenian. But never mind that, we have much to discuss." A couple of Royal Bodyguards, despite their intensive training, snickered at the Athenian comment. Leonidas glared at them, and the pair went silent and returned to a proper bearing. Sighing, Leonidas looked up at the foreign minister again and thought of another thing to add. "And the thing about.. sexual relations with those of the same gender in the Agoge? Well.. that's what we like to call Roman propaganda. You see, we don't frown upon same-gender relationships, but we don't excatly encourage them, either. Bad for breeding," Leonidas added, just as a man in a smart business suit and neatly trimmed beard ran up. "Y.. your highness. Urgent news," the man, whose hair was graying, gasped. "What is so urgent that you would interrupt my discussions with the foreign minister of the Free Republic of Lamoni?" Leonidas demanded, clearly perturbed. Or as perturbed as a 13-year old girl with pigtails could look. "It's the Falcanians, your highness. They're offering a compromise," the man answered. "A compromise? Now that is news.. not that we'd be afraid to fight if we had to.. and not that we wouldn't take joy from going giant chicken hunting.. but there's no reason we can't be civil," Leonidas replied, clearly intrigued, then ordered, "But just in case, I want a representative sent to Kafra to begin discussions about our potentially gaining military friends in the region. Or at least to talk to the SDL about our position in the situation... in fact, send the Chief of Agoge Instruction.. yes, old Colonel Hercules should do nicely." "It shall be as you wish," the man nodded, and rushed off to deliver the messages. Meanwhile, Leonidas turned to the Foreign Minister and apologized, "I'm afraid this bears a reciprocal televised response. I'll return once it's been made to continue our discussions.. until then, I will send my own Foreign Minister to talk with you." As the King said, so it was done. The King went off to her main office to make a major televised response. Foreign Minister Krestallos arrived a few minutes later, dressed in a Royal Army battle dress uniform, medals covering much of the left breast pocket. "Ah, Minister Ley," he nodded to her - he was much taller than the King, and had a properly trimmed beard, as well as an eyepatch over his right eye, "What do you think of our Kingdom so far?" ******* King Leonidas of Spartuh today sent a televised broadcast to the region, but was pointedly directing her words at King Falcon. In contrast to the black dressed simple appearance Falcon II had put forward, Leonidas was still in the full traditional armor and cloak, though the helm was nowhere in sight. Her hair now back in a proper braid, she sat before a large Spartan flag, flanked on either side by members of the Royal Bodyguard, their assault rifles at the ready. "To all nations watching this broadcast, greetings. I am Leonidas, ruler of the sovereign Kingdom of Spartuh. Today, as you likely are already aware, King Falcon II extended his admiration of Spartun valor in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds. I would personally like to thank him for his words of praise. However, I also note with regretfulness the confidence he bears in the 'superiority' of his ground forces to Spartun warriors. But for now, I will not dwell on that for now." "I am pleased to see that the Falcanian ruler is willing to talk rather than take rash action. However, if even the potential of invasion by Falcania is brought about, reason will have failed on King Falcon's end of things. From the very beginning of this situation, Spartuh has offered negotiations to resolve the dispute. We continue to offer diplomacy and negotiations as an answer - as King Falcon said, we are both warrior peoples. What good would it do to bleed each other?" "Therefore, I am hereby extended a personal invitation to King Falcon II himself to meet me in the neutral territory to put together an agreement that satisfies both sides of this issue. I propose we meet in Kafra, at the headquarters of the Strategic Defense League. I call upon this organization, to which Falcania belongs, to help broker such an agreement. Spartuh is not declining the Falcanian offer, but merely wishes to discuss it face to face with King Falcon. Surely, a fellow warrior King can respect the wish of a counterpart." |

"Alert Baz-001, we may need it to get to Kafra. If King Falcon is going to accept this proposal by golly, I'm going to be there." "He hasn't accepted it, yet." "But trust me, if the Lamonians, Spartuns and Falconians really want to resolve this they are going to do it almost immediately it's the quick or the dead especially when it comes to meetings like this. While Lamoni has been, well, instrumental in arranging this I'm not letting Bazalonia slide down from it's position in regional politics. We where once the regional delegate for crying out loud and I'm going to make sure Bazalonia stays important." "Or, you just want it to look like it." "Either way means points during election." |

Its been months since Nedalia had been mentioned in any sort of international news. The war on Hypocria was all but forgotten; stale-mates are never much fun. After the deadly Starblaydi attack on Honsfield, the Nedalian government, led by Yasmine Dala'a, had pretty much ceased international activity in the name of rebuilding from the inside out. The economy was stronger than it had ever been, and the rebuilding efforts were ahead of schedule. Honsfield was beginning to resemble the beautiful coastal city it once was, with new projects appearing seemingly overnight. As for the Nedalian military, factories were rolling out weaponry, small and large, every day, making it one of the most fortified lands in the AO. However, deceased President Bren once lobbied to make Kafra the HQ of the SDL, and it was thanks to him that Kafra became one of the most important cities in the region. So when word reached Dala'a that the SDL was to meet in the HQ just south of the capital, she had a direct, straight response: "Prepare the city for the arrival of our allies. We have much to do." |

Falcon smiled in the seat of the Starling, and turned off the TV. He was growing to love this Leonidas. The man had balls, something which he thought had been increasingly scarce in regional politics lately. It'd be an honour to meet this man. His pilot had set a course for Kafra, and they were expected to arrive within the hour. |

President Stinson had been watching the televised broadcasts from both Falcania and Spartuh, and felt a ray of hope for the first time since this crisis had broken out. If Falcon had used military force on the Spartuns, Lamoni would have been forced (by public opinion) to withdraw from the SDL in order to kick some Falcanian ass. Warplans had been updated; just in case there was need. Now, though; the government's massive sigh of relief could be felt throughout the Free Republic. They weren't out of the woods yet, but at least they could see a way through to avoid tearing the entire SDL apart. There was still the crumbling SAAS to worry about, as well. Everyone knew that they must have been laughing their asses off at the altercation; and plotting how to use it to their advantage. President Stinson was actually able to fall asleep on the flight to Kafra, which was the first time that he'd slept since this crisis had erupted. Now, it came down to finding some way to get those two to agree on a compromise. --- Foreign Minister Ley didn't miss the snickering at the 'Athenian' comment. She had half expected it, as a matter of fact. Anyone who had studied Greek history knew that the Spartans of old thought that the Athenians were weak, and that too much education would distract one from their duties as a warrior. She wasn't entirely sure how the present day balance of knowledge versus warrior training worked here, but she'd do her best to find out. She was about to respond to the 'bad for breeding' comment when a man with a trimmed beard and smart suit interrupted. She listened to the exchange between the newcomer and the King; and she too started to feel the hope that President Stinson would feel after the television broadcast by the Spartun king. After King Leonidas had left her, a man that she presumed to be the Spartun Foreign Minister walked up to her and introduced himself, asking what she thought of the Kingdom of Spartuh. "What I have seen of the Kingdom is really quite beautiful," she said in the mien that diplomats used with one another. "Perhaps we can see more of it at a later date?" |

At King Leonidas' express orders, a man had been sent to Kafra to begin a meet and greet with the various nations represented by the SDL there. There was an ulterior motive beyond the Spartuh-Falcania meeting, but that could remain secret enough. Until it was time to hatch the plan before those nations. The man sent to represent Spartuh initially was Colonel Heracles (the King had confused him with another Colonel, named Hercules) - the man in charge of Agoge Instruction. He was a gruff, tough old soldier who'd spent many years as a drill sergeant before getting promoted to officer's status. Like his King, Heracles didn't see any need to beat around the bush. Better to get straight to the point and tell someone you thought they were ugly than to try and make them feel better about themselves. At least that's how Heracles would put it. Heracles was a tall man, with a militarily trimmed beard and crew cut. Decked out in Spartun BDUs, he was an imposing figure, and the medals and peaked cap he wore with the uniform only added to that. His dark hair showed only a few bits of gray, showing he was no spring chicken. Yet he was in impossibly good shape for his age, thanks to years of Spartun Army life. The King would be arriving not long after him, but he was to be the Kingdom's first representative in Kafra. With him was a squad of Royal Army soldiers, which made him feel better about flying on the RAF transport. There were a pair of fighters escorting it as well, but like the transport, they were all piloted or crewed by Spartun women. Not that a Spartun woman wasn't tough, but a Spartun man was supposed to do the fighting and such.. unless it was in the air. Or on the water. At any rate, the Spartun aircraft approached their destination, and the city of Kafra spread out underneath them. It was quite large, and therefore fairly impressive. As the RAF craft grew within a few minutes of their destination, the Colonel opened up a radio channel to contact those on the ground. "Ground control, this is Colonel Heracles of the Royal Spartun Army, sent directly by King Leonidas to make contact with the SDL delegation in Kafra. Requesting permission to land," Heracles spoke bluntly, wishing he could just get on the ground and out of this contraption. ***** King Leonidas, having not heard any word from Falcon II on the proposed meeting, had decided to head for Kafra after all. If Falcon showed up, that would be the ideal result. If he shunned Spartuh again, then that would just make him look bad and further Spartuh's cause. Whatever the case was, Leonidas would be there. So, about an hour behind Colonel Heracles, the King flew aboard another RAF transport, escorted by four fighters. On board with her were twelve trusted members of the Royal Bodyguard, all in their traditional Spartan armor. Leonidas wore the armor as well. She sat near the cockpit, watching out the window as the ground flew by underneath them. This was certainly going to be interesting... she'd find out whether Falcon would show in about 45 minutes. **** Back in Spartuh, Foreign Minister Krestallos had a good laugh at the Lamonian woman's commenting on the scenery. He'd had a long conversation with a diplomat about making small talk, and that was one of the tricks he'd suggested. Find something positive to say if you could not say much else positively. It was amusing that he was seeing it play out here, with a foreigner. Still, the King would never forgive him if he wasn't civil in his dealings with her. She'd probably force him to take up professional baseball as a member of the Persians.. the worst team in the Spartun Baseball League. Baseball was fine, but the Persians were so badly named that no self-respecting Spartun would play for them; they were loaded with foreign players and non-Spartun Greeks who couldn't get on with the Athenians club. "Yes, that could certainly be arranged," he answered her request, then offered, "I could even arrange for you to see an Agoge class.. or our fledgling national soccer team being pieced together... or we could take in an SBL contest. You see, sport exists even in Spartuh." |

Like a thousand times before, the Starling touched down on the runway of the SDL compound. The nature of Falcon's visit on this occasion, however, was very different. He had no entourage and there was no crowd waiting to meet him. As the rotors ground to a halt, all became silent, and his footsteps as he descended the ladder and crossed the runway echoed throughout the compound. Step by step, he slowly made his way into the concourse of the main building. |

After receiving a helpful beep from his computer, General Ajamdáneqo went through his desk drawer to find his uniform’s insignia—he rarely bothered with it because everyone at CDA headquarters knew his rank, and the complex design was somewhat fragile—and took the nine hundred meter teleporter trip to the ground floor. Not being in any particular hurry that would justify the expense of international teleportation, he had a car waiting to take him to the small Aeropag International Airport, where he boarded a CDA plane which would soon depart for Kafra. After flying over the apparent demise of organized crime—er, “government”—in Sarzonia, and the foundations of a new Casaran government, the plane touched down at the SDL compound. The endless sprawl of Kafra was a sharp contrast to the intricately-connected glass structures of Aeropag, bounded by water on all sides, but he adjusted and found his way to the main building, where Falcon and some man named Heracles had already arrived. |

Some of the most important people in the region were beginning to arrive at the SDL HQ just south of Kafra, and security measures had never been so high. In these turbulent times, with what might be considered the First AO War, there couldn't possibly be something as too much security. In fact, just mere hours away from the southern coast of Nedalia, to the east, there was war, as the ongoing attack of Nedalian forces on the Starblaydi base on the Hypocrian island of Sinistra. Speaking of Hypocria, President Dala'a was fuming. One of her closest allies, King Falcon, had personally invited the dicta-,ahem, President of Hypocria, Vyntra. She couldn't help but feeling slightly betrayed, since Falcon knew full well the situation between Nedalia and Hypocria. It was ironic, the war between the two countries, because the Nedalian people and the Hypocrian people loved each other. It was the governments that had a problem with each other. Relations with Falcania were bound to cool after this incident, but Dala'a was more concerned about the inner crisis going on within the SDL. This was absolutely the wrong time for any internal strife... |

Stone was already in the SDL building, and was waiting for the meeting to start. He was already noticing Colonel Heracles looking at King Falcon with a most "interesting" look. If he had to guess, Heracles would rather kill Falcon than talk to him. Either way, this was not getting off on the right foot, despite the fact that most SDL members hadn't even arrived yet. Since the Nedalian President wasn't physically in chambers yet, he couldn't even attempt small talk with someone who was considered "neutral" in this dispute. Then President Stinson spotted Dala'a, and decided not to bother talking to her yet. She looked ENRAGED about something, though he didn't yet know what it was. |

Falcon had to admit, he felt a perverse reassurance in the amount of unrest he was causing - As his father said, "You can tell you're doing well when people want to kill you - and if they refuse to, you're doing even better". He had deliberately failed to veto Hypocria's invitation to what was soon to be a very interesting party - Falcon knew full well that improved relations between Hypocria and the SDL would bode well for Falcania, as a cessation of conflicts on that front would help the war effort no end, sorting out the governmental conflict with Nedalia would be useful, and moreover there had been unofficial confirmation that Hypocria recognised Falcanian territorial boundaries. In addition, the look on Dala'a's face was absolutely priceless. Speaking of priceless looks, a Spartuhn gent was looking at him with an expression that could only be described as murderous. One of the perks of diplomacy is that nobody's allowed to hit anyone; accordingly, thought Falcon, one could say whatever one wanted. Falcon approached Heracles and bowed his head gently. "You must be Heracles. It is an honour to meet you, sir, as such a ruler as Leonidas would only send his most skilled and experienced warrior in his stead." He cocked his head slightly. Falcania's warrior instincts had been denied a kindred spirit on the regional stage - military force was always a fact of regional politics but single, ritual combat was not. Falcanian myth was awash with stories of dominion rulers settling disputes through noble duelling. "I wouldn't mind seeing your experience myself. What is the Spartuhn view of single combat?" |

Foreign Minister Ley was interested in catching the SBL game, and said so. Knowing her Greek history, she expected a more violent version of the game than most other nations played. While the pair was heading to the game, she asked her counterpart, "I was eventually going to ask King Leonidas about the prospects of an embassy exchange with Spartuh, but i'll ask you instead. What do you think? Would it have a prospect of working out?" |

Colonel Heracles was growing increasingly annoyed by the Falcanians in general and their King in particular. His mere presence made the Chief of Agoge Instruction long for the days past when he could've just thrust a spear into the man's gizzard and gotten it over with. But maybe that would be letting him off easy - something made Heracles feel that a death in combat would be too good for the man. No, defeat and then being left to live would be more suitable. It was made even worse when King Falcon came over to rub in the diplomatic immunity thing in his face. Or just to be annoying as usual. Whatever the case, Heracles temporarily let his hand waver over his sidearm, but ultimately he dropped it. No reason to ignite an incident here. The man's question was puzzling as well. "That's Colonel Heracles to you," the old soldier answered at first. After a moment, he raised an eyebrow and added, "The Spartun view of single combat? Well, that depends. In modern warfare, it is useless apart from special operations missions. Spartun warriors have always fought by the traditional concepts of a unit rather than an individual. Do you recall something called the phalanx? Each man carried a shield to cover the warrior next to him from thigh to neck, and formed one single impenetrable line. A single weak spot, and the phalanx shattered. So Spartuns have always stressed the unit, nation, and people over the individual. Even in today's modern warfare, which we have embraced, mind you, the unit and group are prioritized over the individual." "That said, every Spartun is taught personal combat as part of the Agoge; it is to both encourage the killer instinct required to be a true Spartun, and to harden the nerves of student warriors," Heracles added, then smirked savagely, "And if you are suggesting an interest in sparring with a Spartun, I would advise you not to pursue it. Have you not heard of the Agoge? It is the most brutal warrior training ever conceived by man. A good number of Spartun boys - already hardened from early combat education - do not survive it. Spartuns are taken at age seven from their families to participate in it, after being taught basic concepts from the time they can walk. Not only has a man in my position survived that and years in the Royal Army, but I am in charge of making that training more brutal and difficult when neccessary.." He was about to go on, but just then the RAF transport bearing the King landed and taxied to its ultimate destination nearby. Finally, the plane stopped, and a door on the side fell open to reveal a set of stairs. Down the stairs came the twelve Royal Bodyguard soldiers in their full traditional uniforms and armor. The only difference between them and the Spartans they were descended from was the assault rifle each carried in place of a spear. Seeing their arrival, Heracles' grin widened. Stepping back, he announced loudly so that all nearby would hear, "I present the King of Spartuh!" King Leonidas hesitated coming out at first, thinking about the newest information about Falcon's antics. Apparently, the Falcanian had invited the Hypocrian leader to the meeting. That mad Leonidas mad, as this was intended to be a meeting between the SDL nations and those directly concerned by the Falcania-Spartuh territorial issue. Hypocria was not only not involved in the sitaution, they were AT WAR with the SDL, and had directly attacked the host nation! Falcon had to be a madman, or an idiot. Either way, there were many ways Spartuh could exploit this to its advantage. If the Nedalians were as furious with Falcon as she assumed they'd be, it would be an opportune time for Spartuh to gain more support. That in mind, she put her helm on and walked down the steps with a regal, warrior-like bearing. She was shorter and smaller than Falcon, true. But she carried herself as if she was back in her old body, rather than that of a 13-year old girl with her hair in pigtails. The armor looked impressive too, even if it was custom built for her current size. Upon her appearance, the Royal Bodyguard raised their fists in the air and shouted a robust salute consisting of, "Haroo! Haroo! Haroo!" Leonidas marched forward and returned the salute given by Colonel Heracles. She then saw King Falcon in person for the first time, and stepped towards him. Part of her wondered what Falcon would think now that he could see her in person himself. It was amusing to her. "You must be King Falcon II," she nodded to him, then removed her helm, tucking it under an arm. |

As he was escorted deeper into the bowels of the SDL Headquarters Vyntra couldn’t help but smile at the irony. He never expected to be here, particularly in the current climate. But the Diamindokere question was a local issue and he had every right to voice his own opinion. And the fact that his presence might help drive a wedge between SDL members was an added bonus. King Falcon had provided transport to Kafra for the Autokrator, something for which he was grateful. Any plane emblazoned with the Autocracy’s markings would not have got far into Nedalian airspace. And the King’s had sent an advisor to ensure Vyntra adhered to all the tiresome security protocols. He was all set. As his escort slowed his pace Vyntra knew they were nearly at their destination. He smoothed down a non-existent crease on the front of his immaculate black military uniform and brushed a tiny piece of fluff off one of his silver epaulettes. He was definitely all set. The Nedalian lackey opened the door and Vyntra crossed the threshold into the very heart of the SDL. Again he couldn’t help but smile at the reaction. “Greetings all. Nice place, I suppose a tour is out of the question.” |

President Stinson couldn't believe the arrogance of the man. Though, it was just like Vyntra to not make pretenses. Although, if Dala'a was mad before, Stinson was betting that she was hoping for any little excuse to shoot Vyntra here and now. Still, Vyntra had diplomatic immunity with his head of state status, so they couldn't do anything physical to him. Or jail him, or any of a million other things that they would dearly love to do to him. Stinson decided that it was time for the meeting to get underway. Vyntra would only get more insufferable with time. Reaching for his microphone, Stinson announced, "I suggest that we get this meeting underway; SDL members, and guests." The last bit was said with an ironic glance at Vyntra. |

Falcon held back a smirk at Leonidas's entrance. One of his aides had earlier discreetly informed him of the peculiar situation regarding the King's age and gender. As she tucked her helmet under her arm, he gave the Falcanian salute, horizontal fist thumped to chest, then rotated 90 degrees to vertical while unsheathing claws. "Honoured to make your acquaintance, sire." He gestured to Heracles. "I was talking to your countryman about combat. This fine warrior was doing his best to discourage me from sparring a Spartun. I have a great respect for your nation: They say a Spartun will do the thing everybody knows is right but is too scared to do." Idly he sheathed and unsheathed his claws. "I look forward to seeing the outcome of these talks." |

Due in part to the change in government, upcoming election, constitutional convention and civil war that's all explained http://www.3wideracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2005; but mostly due to the fact that the other nation no longer exists, the 95X (temporary) Board of Directors repeals the original order (the first post in this thread). |
