AO Forum :: > Regional Discussion > Radiation levels proving disastrous...

For a while the nation of Nova Roma was hospitable. Those cities destroyed and irradiated by the Lamonian attacks were quarantined and population growth moved from these areas to the rural areas, areas that weren't touched by the nuclear strike.

It's been some time since that fateful day when over one billion Roman citizens were annihilated by nuclear weapons, and since then, we have rebuilt. The magnificent cities that once adorned the coasts and the mountains of Nova Roma vanished in a blink of an eye, replaced by ruin and charred corpses. Now, those cities are found in what used to be farmland, and this clearly presents a problem.

With population levels steadily approaching 500 million, the space and capacity to house and feed such a numerous amount of people is being depleted.

Cities are quickly filling to capacity, farms, ranches, and slaughterhouses are all being pushed past their maximum production capabilities.

Instead of building out, we must now build up; disease and sickness spreads quickly in such confined areas.

We cannot reclaim the irradiated land, not until another thousand years or so.

And so, here we are, presenting to you, the land of Nova Roma. Yes, it is indeed for sale.

Of course you won't be getting any Roman secrets; the capital, Nova Roma, will be dismantled to the last stone; our Mars and Ivppiter Defense Grids will be scrapped, and many of the bunkers, bases, and shipyards throughout the nation will also be destroyed; there are also the many coastal and mountainous cities that were vaporized and irradiated to contend with.

However, you will be getting over 750,000 sq km of useable land. Most of it will have cities that you can readily inhabit. They will of course be thoroughly cleansed and all Roman buildings can be easily disassembled, if you want them to, of course. The breadbaskets of Nova Roma were the pieces of land bordering Nojika and Lamoni. Fortunately, they were spared during the war and were the main regions supporting the entire nation.

While the mountainous cities were vaporized, the Alpinisium mountain range running along the spine of the nation is rich in iron, aluminum, copper, and uranium. Gold and silver deposits are found at the bases of the range and have been mined extensively, but reports indicate they will last another 35 years. Titanium mines exist in the northern reaches of the mountains and will last for some 15 more years.

The climate in the southern regions is extremely tropical with the northern and central regions as sub-tropical areas. The Nova Riverus is a critical trade route and can always be renamed if need be. The water surrounding the nation is rich in marine life, including large abundances of tuna, crab, lobster, and shrimp. Kelp farms will be left behind along with all harbors.

You may be wondering what we will be doing with the money. Well the answer is simple: the government is going to use the money to finance the reconstruction of Nova Roma in the northern regions of AO (formerly inhabited by Doujin). We feel that the area there is more suited to our nation as it resembles the Rome of old. There is a small region in that area that we have deemed Latium already, it has a river there running through seven hills. That will be the site of the new capital city of Nova Roma. Besides, we never really enjoyed the tropics, the cool Mediterranean climate of the north will be much more suited for us.

Here is a picture of the mainland regions, this is the area bordering Nojika. It is where most of the plant products for Nova Roma are produced. The field depicted is that of a lavender farm.

In the central parts of the Alpinisium range you will find beautiful hideaways. Here is one of them.

Friend, you shouldn't have mentioned the radition-thingie...

But it shouldn't be too hard to sucker someone into this deal - there enough greedy, ponwer-hungry despotes around :-)

While the Free Republic is keeping it's eyes on what is happening to our north, we will not pay such an outrageous sum for that land.

OOC: Actually, I wasn't sure of a good price, so if you have any good numbers, feel free to mention them.

IC:

The Empire, is of course, willing to neogotiate the price to more favorable terms.

OOC: I'm a bit confused, what land is it your trying to sell, all of currently occupied Nova Roma land? I may be interested...

Posted by: Latao Apr 24 2005, 04:02 AM
We would sue Lamoni, as they are responsible for the nuclear disaster.

Posted by: Nova Roma Apr 24 2005, 08:23 AM
OOC: Yes, it's all of my land that's up for sale.

IC:

While extracting financial compensation from Lamoni would be ideal. We have accepted our defeat with grace and will press no further charges upon our former enemy.

We consider the partial glassing of Novvs Atlantis a 'punishment' for their failed invasion. Since they have left the Free Republic alone since their invasion failed, we have allowed them to live as they choose within their own borders.

"Arrogant little bastard, isn't he?" Lord Starblayde turned away from President Stone's statement over the Nova Roman soil he had irradiated.

Lord Gomez decided not to say anything. The Lord-Protector had been getting a little... pent up since Lady Viannor's departure to Assington. He made a little note to have his Lord meet a special someone at the next official engagement. That'd sort things out.

Regardless how some armchair strategists call it, the act of dropping a nuclear bomb is a genocide.

Nice piece of land, you just have to wait a few thousand years before some parts of it are habitable biggrin.gif

"Send a bried tranmission to the Roman government. Make them aware of my personal interest in purchasing their soil."

"Yes, my Lord. Shall we allow for negotiations to take place?"

"If Nova Roma will settle for a lower price or other services, then we will allow negotiations. If the Romans will not; then we will discuss more, the possibilities of expansion."

"As you command, my Lord. A transmission will be sent shortly."

Lower prices are, of course, acceptable. Name your price, and we will attempt to accomodate it.

Taking into consideration the amount of time Nojika will have to wait before we may inhabit and take advantage of all of the land in question, we ask that a price close between $325,000,000,000 and $375,000,000,000 be accepted. Surely, the lower the price, the more services Nojika would be able to provide to the Romans. If need be, the Nojikan naval fleet would be at Roman service to help move the nation to its new homeland, even. If this price range is unacceptable or services are not requested, then Nojika would be willing to examine and consider another asking price.

$350,000,000,000 is indeed a reasonable price. Seeing as there are no others who wish to purchase the land, Nojika shall have it for $350,000,000,000.

We would appreciate your help in our relocation.

With your accepted offer of $350,000,000,000 for Roman soil, the Emperor would like to offer supervised command over the Nojikan 1st and 2nd naval fleets to assist your relocation efforts. With the aid of Nojikan naval vessels, relocating the Roman country should be effortless.

Nojika obviously bought the land and is going to move...

Posted by: Nojika Apr 28 2005, 12:45 AM
Um. Wrong. Have you looked at the regional map? All it did was expand Nojika's borders.

Good one though.
